A brush axe can be used in much the same way a machete is used; for clearing brush, pruning, limbing, chopping and shaving. The longer handle gives more reach for clearing out dense brush stands. 2004 price range: $25-$40.

Used for precise application of herbicide to unwanted trees without adversely affecting nearby trees and vegetation. The hatchet is used to make a cut in a tree into which herbicide is injected. 2004 price range: $300-$350.

Machetes aid in clearing heavy brush and weeds. They can also be used for pruning, chopping wood, limbing trees, cutting crops and shaping shrubs. 2004 price range: $15-$30.
   
ATV Sprayer

These sprayers often come in 15-25 gallon capacities and mount on your ATV for ease of use. Good for targeted application of herbicide to weeds and other unwanted vegetation, and for application of pesticides. 2004 price range: $140-$350.

Ideal for weed, insect and disease control on animals and plants, spot spraying and industrial vegetation control. Capacity is generally 4-5 gallons. Pump pressure can be controlled by hand pump, motor drive or electic/battery drive. 2004 price ranges: hand pump, $80-$150; battery drive, $200-$270; motor drive, $400-$550.

A tree injector can be used either to target specific trees for removal, by injecting an herbicide; or to protect trees from pests by injecting a pesticide. In either case the targeted method means using less chemicals and lessening the risk of contaminating the surrounding environment and community.

This manually operated, all-steel tool designed to uproot woody plants provides an efficient, selective way to control unwanted shrubs and saplings.
