Many chainsaws are designed to better suit tree care. They may have a number of features for ease of use, such as: light weight, longer reach, less vibration and electric start. 2004 price range: $200-$850.

Extinguishers come in a variety of forms and sizes. Some carry fire suppressing chemicals while others are filled with pressurized water. Some are designed to handle fires fed by common combustibles only, while others can be used to put out flammable liquid fed fires and electrical fires as well. 2004 price range: $12- $75.

First Aid kits come in a very wide assortment. There are specialized kits for dealing with specific situations such as burns or bloodborne pathogens. Some general purpose kits have a little of everything for dealing with a wide array of problems. Smaller kits may not aid in every situation but are easier to pack into the backcountry. Some come in light containers for packing while others come in heavier, more durable containers. Supplies for replenishing kits are easily found. Supplies can be mixed and matched to make a kit that suits your specific needs. 2004 price range: $15 - $80.

Boots made with durable soles, extra layers and fire resistant materials offer protection from fire, as well the general rigors of forest work. Logger's boots, hiking boots, rubber boots and others offer protection and comfort for your feet in a number of conditions. 2004 price range: $10-$185.
